The centennial of the America’s independence marked the beginning of The United States Golden Age of Innovation. The affordability of the U.S. patent system allowed independent inventors to solve problems across a wide range of industries, while expanding federal infrastructure helped accelerate the patent application process. The 1876 Centennial Exposition also shined a spotlight on groundbreaking inventions, including Alexander Graham Bell’s telephone and Heinz ketchup.
